Uni~Com members visiting the Canadian Aviation Museum in Windsor Ontario

Welcome to Uni-Com: Lifelong Learning

UNI~COM: Lifelong Learning

UNI~COM: Lifelong Learning is a voluntary organization of seniors (50 and over) retired, semi-retired, or still employed. It is hosted by the University of Windsor and is designed to provide opportunities to its members to participate in Study Groups, attend Speaker Luncheons and to practise their skills in programs and/or projects of service to the citizens of our community. UNI~COM: Lifelong Learning includes the University and the Community in its attempts to promote teaching, learning, mentoring, advocacy and research.

UNI~COM: Lifelong Learning was organized to give Senior Members of our community an opportunity to share continuing education and involvement in special projects.

With the assistance and support of the University of Windsor, almost 200 individuals participate annually as teachers, students, speakers and/or special events/activities planners.

Membership

Membership is open to any and all with interest, experience and enthusiasm.

Study Group Sessions

Our very successful "Study Group Sessions" continue with an exciting lineup of courses led by interesting, talented presenters-including retired professors from the University of Windsor. Many of our Study Groups Sessions take place at Alumni Hall's McPherson Lounge, 750 Sunset Ave. Descriptions of the sessions are listed on this website.

Scholarships

Every year UNI~COM: Lifelon Learning uses the profits from its actvities to make a donation to the University of Windsor Bursary Fund. Our 2017 contribution was $5,000.00

Trips

Our trip to the Toledo Museum of Art and the Detroit Institute of Art. Both proved to be wonderful experiences shared each time by 40 participants. The Art on display was exceptional and having our own guide to accompany us on the trip was a real bonus.

We have also visited, here in Essex County, a museum (Canadian Transportation Museum) and winery as part of our Speaker Luncheon Series and also the Canadian Museum of Aviation. Classes have visited the Hindu Temple in Troy Mich., the Ojibway Nature Centre, C.B.C. Radio/ Television, the Great Lakes Institute (G.L.I.B.E.) the Windsor Police Station, the Sihk temple and other places.

For course/study group information: visit Study Groups & Courses. Under "Listing of Study Groups", click on any of the courses to view more information. Registration is by mail or phone.
