My Co-op journey includes the following experiences:
- AP Plasman à Operational Finance
- Highbury Canco à Production/Warehouse Coordinator
- Was Contracted on to be Warehouse supervisor for 9 months following coop placement.
- Vistaprint Canada à Buyer/Planner
- Responsible for ordering 460 raw materials for production
- Was able to move 425 products to Automatic PO and email for Vendors
- Develop many files/reports that are used across a variety of departments
- Given the opportunity to launch and complete a Cost Saving Project buy bidding out to vendors to supply a different packaging material, completing times studying to determine labour changes, pallet real estate saving, shipping savings, etc.
- Currently in the process of being hired on as a Full-Time Logistics Supervisor at Vistaprint
Co-op has provided me with such great exposure and “real world” experiences such as:
- Excel and SAP System work à crucial for all business students (especially those pursuing the management science concentration)
- Helped me develop a daily routine of working 40+ hours per week
- Fully understand the importance of communication skills and how those skills are applied across variety of communications channels
When asked what Tips Tyler would offer his co-op colleagues he said:
- The first Co-op is the hardest to get so DO NOT get discouraged
- Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, so take risks just don’t make the same mistake twice
- Opportunities are there at all organizations if you are willing to work hard your efforts will be recognized
