"My co-op experience has introduced me to elements of the business world that I hadn’t even considered exploring given my accounting focus but has proven to be a very beneficial learning experience for me!
Initially, I was solely focused on accounting related roles through my co-op experiences but found myself in a position where I had the opportunity to do a co-op term in both marketing and logistics which exposed me to other functional areas of business I would never have considered before. Many of my classmates weren’t willing to look at opportunities outside of their specific area of focus but because I was open-minded and eager for any exposure to the business world, I feel like I’ve had a really well-rounded co-op experience and co-op allowed me to “taste test” different roles. My work experiences have given me different skills which will hopefully make me more marketable upon graduation.
My co-op experiences allowed me to create a clear picture of a career path and assess the areas of business that I did not like and areas I loved. My perspective changed throughout each work term but co-op certainly reinforced for me that I was on the right track with accounting as my goal and I look forward to pursuing those opportunities in the future!"
