Working With Our Future

connor

Connor is currently working at two different locations near his home. He was eager to contribute to his local community and sought out these opportunities that have allowed him to gain practical professional experience while learning from industry professionals.

Connor has the opportunity to gain experience in both aspects of Human Kinetics-Movement Science at the chiropractic clinic and Sport Management with the Athetic Association. While at the clinic, Connor is interacting daily with familiar faces known to his family for many years.  He’s greeting patients, managing the clinic and patient flow,  applying a variety of modalities to patients, working at the front desk booking appointments and taking payments and constantly communicating with the clinic practitioners, phone calls and walk in’s.  it’s a very busy place and Connor is loving the experience of being in the middle of the action!  He even got to submit an article to the local paper about safety during Hunting season which was published!  While at the Athletic Association, Connor is having the opportunity to interact with a lot of familiar names and faces as a past hockey player in the youth association in Bruce County.  His knowledge of hockey has certainly helped in his work while preparing for the Western Ontario Athletic Association’s upcoming 75th Anniversary celebrations for the various sports they represent and support.

Connor’s advice to any student looking for an opportunity is “don’t be afraid to ask for help – talk to family, friends parents, past personal or professional connections, professors…anyone that can help you secure that role that you’re hoping for”.   He also reminds his peers how vitally important it is to maintain relationships with past employers and volunteer connections.  He is looking forward to his final placement – again in his hometown and hopes to return there to start his own physio practice upon graduation where he can serve his community and neighbours who supported him through his University career.
