“Viral Information in the Age of COVID: The Importance of Building a Mental Immune System”

There are currently two pandemics sweeping through our population.  One is biological and is spread through physical interaction, and the other virtual and spread through social media.  In this lecture, Nathan Radke examines the concept of viral information by comparing the biological virus to the information virus, examining the similarities between the transmission methods, exponential growth, and mutation of each.  Radke then compares the biological defenses of the body to the critical thinking defenses of the mind, in order to argue the importance of reasoning skills to promote good mental hygiene at the individual level and herd immunity to harmful ideas at the societal level.
