Officers and Committees

Officers of the Local

  • The officers of Local 1393 include: the President, Vice-President, Recording-Secretary, and Secretary-Treasurer. Other officers include three trustees, along with stewards, safety officers, and the sergeant-at-arms.
     

Trustees

  • The trustees act as an auditing committee, reviewing the work of the Secretary-Treasurer and acting as Returning Officers at all elections. 
     

Health & Safety Officers

  • The safety officer shall represent the local on the University Central Safety Committee, which addresses occupational health and safety concerns by identifying situations that may be a source of danger or hazard to workers and making recommendations to the employer respecting the health and safety of workers.
     

Executive Committee

  • The Executive Committee carries out the day-to-day work of the local as delegated by the members, and receives, considers and reports on all grievances made by members.
     

Joint Job Evaluation Committee (JJEC)

  • The Joint Job Evaluation Committee is a committee that consists of members of University Administration and CUPE Local 1393. The purpose of the committee is to evaluate jobs belonging to the CUPE Local 1393 bargaining unit utilizing the Hay Management job evaluation system.
     

Pension & Benefits Committee

  • Delegates represent the local on the Pension Committee, which makes recommendations to the Board of Governors on the administration of pension plans.
     

Professional Development Committee

  • The Professional Development Committee allocates union funds to support members in furthering their skills through training, conferences, etc.
