Taste of south Asia to support youth education

A south Asian-themed menu in the Marketplace on Wednesday, March 12, will help support a campaign raising funds to build educational services in India.

The event will feature music and a special sampler platter of chana masala, basmati rice, naan and choice of butter chicken, beef korma, paneer or aloo gobi.

Assistant manager Paolo Vasapolli says Food Services will display donation boxes collecting for UNICEF in support of the charitable efforts of the Punjabi Student Association.

The association’s president, Preet Shokar, says the group is “delighted” to be working again with Food Services.

“Food Services was the first organization to support us and show what change is possible through unity,” Shokar says. “We look forward to our continued partnership as our joint initiative will ensure that each child born in India gets the best start in life, thrives and develops to his or her full potential.”

The group will also staff a table Wednesday selling samosas, chai tea, gulab jamun and other baked goods.
