A breakfast reception January 12 at the Odette School of Business will launch a unique program that will prepare its graduates to succeed as accountants and professionals in a multitude of careers.
The Master of Business Administration – Professional Accounting Specialization (MBA – PAS) is the only one of its kind in the province, and accredited by Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.
The program’s director, professor Eksa Kilfoyle, says it is designed to develop technical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking and professional decision making-ability, all required to excel in complex work environments.
“The MBA-PAS provides an opportunity to pursue a career in accounting to domestic and international students holding undergraduate degrees in business or other disciplines,” says Dr. Kilfoyle. “With a classroom environment that encourages and prepares students from diverse scholastic backgrounds, MBA-PAS contributes to the education of a well-rounded CPA.”
The program may be completed in 12 months and is currently accepting applications for intake in September 2017. Find detailed admission requirements on the MBA-PAS website.
The January 12 event is aimed at executives from businesses interested in hiring a CPA candidate with experience in tax, assurance, performance management or finance and individuals with a graduate degree in business administration.
Cameron McInnis, CPA CA, Chief Accountant at the Ontario Securities Commission will be the key note speaker at the launch. He will be talking about the new CPA designation and how an MBA degree combined with the CPA education provides a competitive advantage in the job market.
