Lancer volleyballers heading to international court

Two members of the Lancer men’s volleyball squad will play for Team Canada at the 2017 Summer Universiade, August 19 to 30 in Taipei.

U Sports named Pierce Johnson and John Moate to its roster, alongside head coach James Gravelle and assistant Will Alexander, both of the UWindsor program. The national sport organization also designated Moate one of three players to watch, noting his .412 hitting percentage and 22 solo blocks in varsity competition through the 2016-17 season.

Evaluation camp set for varsity golf

Golfers interested in competing for the Lancers must complete a recruitment form in advance of an evaluation camp, which opens July 29 at Ambassador Golf Club.

Head coach Adam Wagner says his returning players, coupled with new recruits, have the potential to contend for Ontario University Athletics championships.

Fastpitch program announces open tryout dates

The Lancer women’s fastpitch club will hold open tryouts August 29 to 31 and September 5 to 7 in LaSalle’s Turtle Club Park.

Players must be enrolled in a minimum of three UWindsor courses and bring gloves and cleats to the tryout, and must register in advance. Find details on the Lancer Recreation website.
