Updates to enrich experience for Club diners

Food Services continues to implement changes to the Club outlet in Vanier Hall in its effort to improve the dining experience for patrons.

The Club is open for dinner nightly, serving a wide variety of homestyle meal specials to students living in residence.

It has added a sushi bar with specialty selections, among them a vegetarian sampler, orange dragon, seafood combo, dynamite maki, and seaweed salad.

Coming soon are new choices of high-end pastries, says executive chef Paolo Vasapolli, including an upscale brownie, tiramisu cup, hazelnut Paris, individual cheesecakes, and a house-made crème brulée with fresh berries.

He is most excited about a station that will bring diners a live-action experience every Wednesday.

“We want to bring the food preparation to our customers,” says Vasapolli. “Whether it’s the assembly of a garlic Casear salad or the final steps in a high-end dessert, presenting the chef’s work is one of the hottest trends in restaurants right now.”

The elements and dishes on display will change week-to-week, he says.

“Our entire vision with this site is to enable students to enjoy a true dining experience,” says Vasapolli. “It will continue to evolve in response to their wishes.”

He points to another extra touch — individual sets of cutlery rolled in cloth napkins: “These little things add a sense of elegance to enhance the atmosphere.”

Located on the ground floor of Vanier Hall, the Club operates seven days a week from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
