Magazine features professor’s art project

UWindsor professor Jennifer Willet graces the current issue of Visual Arts News, a magazine exploring contemporary art practices.

Its Summer 2021 edition, with a theme of solitude, includes a profile of Dr. Willet in an article by Jane Walker entitled “Life in silos: Art, Work and Motherhood.” The cover features a photo by UWindsor alumnus Justin Elliott (BFA 2014, MFA 2017) of Willet in her COVID suit.

“I have developed an alter ego called COVID Suit Mom who wanders through domestic and public spaces wearing a bedazzled hazmat suit while managing her children and navigating social distancing and PPE guidelines,” Willet says. “This new series explores experiences of fear and isolation and the gruelling tightrope walk working parents manage under stay-at-home orders.”

Willet is an associate professor in the School of Creative Arts; Canada Research Chair in Art, Science, and Ecology; and director of the Incubator Art Lab.
