Steps for Sue charity walkathonThe Odette MBA Society is holding a fundraising walkathon honouring late secretary Sue Skrobiak.

MBA students plan virtual charity walkathon

A fundraising walkathon organized by MBA students at the Odette School of Business will honour the memory of a late staff member while supporting the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.

“Steps for Sue” will also raise monies toward the Sue Skrobiak MBA Fund, which supports students in the Master of Business Administration program. After a career of almost 40 years as a secretary in the business faculty, Skrobiak died in November 2018 — before the MBA Class of 2022 began its studies.

That didn’t stop the students from being aware of Skrobiak’s contributions, says walkathon organizer Sienna Ducharme.

“As a cohort, we were able to feel the incredible impact that Sue had through the faculty, staff, and alumni she worked with, because they in turn have positively impacted us during our time in the MBA program,” she says. “We created Steps for Sue to continue to contribute to Sue's legacy of love and service for the MBA program and those around her.”

She says her colleagues in the Odette MBA Society hope Steps for Sue becomes an annual event, so that students to come are also inspired by her and her willingness to help others.

The virtual activity will run July 18 to 24 and is open to all registrants — students, alumni, faculty, colleagues and friends from across campus or elsewhere.
