Grant recipients to foster student engagement

The Centre for Teaching and Learning has announced recipients for its annual Centred on Learning Innovation Fund (CLIF).

The theme for this year’s CLIF grants is inclusive student engagement, which includes such topics as anti-Black racism in curriculum and pedagogy, Indigenization of curriculum and pedagogy, and universal design for learning.

Three groups were selected with the topic of their projects as follows:

  • Fostering self-regulated learning strategies for academic success in first-year biology courses
  • Examining how research group and lab ethnic diversity influences the persistence of the BIPOC community in science
  • Understanding persistence and retention in students underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math

The CTL established CLIF in 2008 and the grants are used to stimulate the development, implementation, and assessment of innovative teaching and learning. Read more about the CLIF recipients on the CTL website.
