Can the Windsor-Essex community top Lancer varsity athletes?
Members of the blue and gold have been collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the campus food pantry and the Downtown Mission. Now they’re challenging their fans to beat their total.
UWindsor faculty and staff can drop off items at the Toldo Lancer Centre by Saturday, Dec. 2. The collections will continue through this weekend’s home games:
- Volleyball vs. Queen’s on Friday and Saturday; the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. both days.
- Basketball vs. Western on Saturday; the women tipping off at noon and the men at 2 p.m.
Other Lancer action this weekend sees the men’s and women’s hockey teams take to the ice. The men will travel to London to face the Western Mustangs on Friday night before returning home to host the York Lions on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex. The women’s squad will close out 2023 with a pair of road games, Friday at Ontario Tech and Saturday at Queen’s.
Tickets for all home games can be purchased in advance at goLancers.ca/tickets, and all games can be seen live at OUA.tv.
Track and field will break out of the blocks at the Blue and Gold Intersquad Meet, Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 4 and 5, in the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
