Get ready to kick off your fitness journey this winter

As we step into this new year, it’s the perfect time to reconnect with ourselves and set intentions for growth, health, and peace, says Giovanna Abraham, yoga mindfulness teacher and mental health champion.

“Whether you’re starting your yoga journey or deepening your practice, remember that every breath is a step forward,” she says.

Lancer Recreation holds one-hour classes on main campus weekdays at noon through April 25.

Monday: Boot Camp in the Education Gym

If you’re the type of person who likes getting more done in less time, this class is for you. In this high-intensity interval training style class, participants will improve cardiovascular fitness while strengthening and toning. Join instructor Renée Bombardier and have fun while making the most of your lunch hour. Exercisers of all levels encouraged to come; classes are geared to the capabilities of individual participants.

Tuesday: Gia Fit Flow in the Oak Room, Vanier Hall

Experience a full-body somatic yoga workout designed to tone, sculpt, and strengthen. This practice combines flowing movements, breathwork techniques, and meditations to energize, calm, or harmonize the body and nervous system. Guided by breath and sensation, it’s perfect for reducing stress, improving mobility, and reconnecting with your body. Suitable for all levels.

Wednesday: Boot Camp in the Education Gym

Challenge your strength and endurance in this high-intensity weight-focused bootcamp. Designed to build muscle, burn calories, and boost overall fitness, this class combines strength training with dynamic functional movements. Using free weights and bodyweight exercises, you’ll target all major muscle groups while improving power, stability, and form. Perfect for all levels.

Thursday: Gia Fit Sculpt in the Education Gym

This class will guide you through energetic yoga flows and breathwork that will condition your entire body as you transition seamlessly through poses. It will allow you to release stress, while still building strength and gaining flexibility. Come together with instructor Gia Abraham to uplift spirits and revitalize bodies in a balanced and supportive environment. All levels welcome, as modifications are always offered.
