People hoping to submit nominations for the Employee Recognition Awards have until September 28.
The new program formally celebrates the outstanding contributions of employees campus-wide to the achievement of the University’s mission and vision in six categories:
When the University Club opens for the school year on Monday, patrons will notice some changes, says president Mary Louise Drake, but one thing remains the same: it will continue to provide a campus respite for faculty members, staff and professional librarians.
“The club functions as a dining room catering to guests looking for a collegial atmosphere,” she says.
It serves lunch Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Humanities Research Group will present thought-provoking discussion during Humanities Week, September 10 to 14 on the University of Windsor campus.
Physics professor Gordon Drake, principal of Canterbury College, will analyze current thinking on the topic of free will in his free public lecture “Free Won’t,” at 4 p.m. Monday, September 10, in Alumni Hall’s McPherson Lounge. Dr. Drake will examine some of the underlying assumptions that may not necessarily be correct within the context of science, religion, and artificial intelligence.

A solar bench, which captures energy from the sun and converts it to electricity, was recently installed near the gardens in front of the Leddy library.
Klaus Dohring, owner of Green Sun Rising, the Windsor company that made and donated the bench, said it’s an ideal location to sit outside and work on a laptop or to charge up an electronic device.
Nevin MacLeod enjoys going out with his friends, sharing some laughs and even maybe a drink or two, but says that in his experience, “the best times are the ones you remember.”

She also gained inspiration and Lancer pride, courtesy of a presentation by UWindsor president Alan Wildeman on the theme “Believe in Yourself” and a special appearance by varsity athletes and mascot Winston.

The first-year biochemistry student joined her childhood friend Nikita Gandhi in trying to take advantage of all that is offered during Windsor Welcome Week. Tuesday, they enjoyed free snow cones outside the CAW Student Centre, courtesy of the International Student Society.
“There’s so much free stuff to do,” Gandhi says. “It gives you a good sense of how friendly the university is.”
The University Advancement Office is seeking a dynamic team of students to work as canvassers for its 2012 phone campaign, which begins this year on September 30 and will continue until November 29.
