UWindsor Board comes under new leadership

A two-time UWindsor grad and a former sessional instructor, William J. Willis (BA 2001, LLB 2004), began a two-year term as chair of the Board of Governors effective October 28. Previously, he served as the Board’s first vice-chair and second vice-chair, chair of its Resource Allocation Committee, a member of the Executive Committee, and as Board representative on the University of Windsor Senate.

He taught classes in Insolvency and Restructuring and Securities Regulation at Windsor Law. In addition to his service to the University, Willis is a member of the WindsorEssex Development Corporation Board and has volunteered on such community boards as the United Way Centraide of Windsor-Essex County and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.

He is the founding partner of Willis Business Law (2016), which specializes in all aspects of business law, including corporate transactions, financing, corporate governance, labour and employment, privacy, and commercial real estate. His practice centres on a value-added, ‘just-in-time,’ and ethical approach to delivering legal services.

Called to the bar in 2005, Willis has been a proud member of the Windsor legal community ever since he returned to Windsor nearly 13 years ago, after practising corporate law in Toronto.
