Global learning enhances student engagement and academic development by connecting course content with international perspectives. It helps students build global awareness while strengthening their understanding of their discipline. For faculty, it supports curriculum enrichment and innovative teaching approaches.

Further your teaching practice and showcase educational leadership and innovation

Faculty can strengthen course design by incorporating global perspectives into teaching. Support is available through campus resources that assist with planning and integrating globally focused learning into academic programs:

  • Go international Faculty can incorporate global learning through study abroad opportunities, field courses, and faculty-led international programs. These experiences allow students to engage with global contexts while applying academic knowledge.

  • Get funding Funding is available to support global learning initiatives, including curriculum development, international collaboration, and travel. These supports help faculty expand global learning opportunities across disciplines.

Support your research

Access funding opportunities, build international research collaborations, and engage students in meaningful research experiences that strengthen your academic work:

  • The Work Learn Program supports and subsidizes meaningful work experiences for students on campus. Faculty can support their research by engaging students through on-campus employment and experiential learning opportunities. Programs such as those supported through the University of Windsor Career Centre allow faculty to hire students for meaningful, research-related roles that contribute to academic projects while building student experience. Learn more.

  • Access international talent with Research Abroad and Visiting International Research Pathways. Faculty can also expand their research networks through international collaboration opportunities, including visiting scholars, institutional partnerships, and global academic exchanges supported by the university’s research and global engagement units. These connections help strengthen research capacity and encourage knowledge sharing across institutions.

Demonstrate disciplinary relevance

Help students connect their learning to real-world contexts by integrating global and experiential learning into your curriculum. These approaches strengthen disciplinary understanding while showing how academic knowledge applies in professional and community settings:

  • Faculty can adopt flexible learning strategies that extend course engagement beyond traditional classrooms. Through collaboration with campus support units such as the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) , instructors can incorporate experiential learning approaches that connect curriculum content with real-world applications.

  • Faculty can also develop partnerships with external organizations, school boards, and community groups to create applied learning opportunities for students. These collaborations help bridge academic learning with practice-based experience and strengthen student readiness for future careers. Learn more
