“I chose the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor for my Masters because of the internship option. I believe empirical experience is very important in the sport management industry, so having the opportunity to pursue a Master’s level education, get valuable and practical work experience, and conduct research was the perfect mix for me. My time in the MHK Program helped prepare me for my career by giving me more perspective on the overall industry, teaching me the necessity for research backed decision making, and shaping me to think more critically, analytically and strategically. Since graduating from the University of Windsor, I worked at Gymnastics Canada as the Trampoline Program Coordinator for 3 years, where I had the exciting and challenging task of helping manage the sport at the national level as well as with the high-performance teams. I’ve recently moved on to an opportunity with the International Paralympic Committee where I am a Development Coordinator for World Para Powerlifting. It’s a role which focuses on growing the sport throughout the world and enhancing it in many forms (ex. technologies, equipment, competition formats).”

“In my time in HK, I wish I was more involved in campus life; the university and city were great and I wish I took more time to appreciate it. My advice to fourth year student about to enter the professional world would be driven to pursue your dreams and willing to go get the experiences and skills to help make it happen. Whether through internships or volunteering, moving to a different city, making that extra effort; this will all help open the door to many more opportunities and get you closer to where you want to be.”
