Calendar of Events for Revive and Thrive Week January 25-30

Lancer Recreation has taken the lead on organizing the campus wide Revive and Thrive week. Departments and groups from around campus will be holding events from Monday January 25 to Friday January 29 to help faculty, staff, and students refresh and succeed this semester.

The busy schedule of events will be entirely virtual and can be found below. Here is a summary of the programs and events taking place:

Monday January 25

Core Moves with Zoe @ 10am- join Forge Fitness Centre personal trainer Zoe for this challenging 30 minutes workout that will work every angle of your core. Click here to register.

Yoga with Coco @ 12 & 7pm- in the noon class, help perk the body up, prepare it to sustain energy and concentration during the second half of the day, and maintain steadiness of breath and mind. In the evening class, move and stretch with the aim to calm the body down at the end of the day, for rest and repair. Gentle, moderate, and challenging variations are shared. Click here to register.

HIIT with Sandra @ 1pm- Campus Recreation Coordinator Sandra Ondracka leads a high intensity interval training class after lunch. Click here to register.

University of Windsor Student Centre/Alumni Association Hoodie Giveaway- check out the Student Centre’s Instagram page (@uofwstudentcentre) for a contest giveaway for free hoodies! Contest opens on Monday and winners are announced on Wednesday.

Tuesday January 26

Morning Salutations with Coco @ 9:30am- the energy of these sessions is rise and shine, start the day with breath and energy, greeting the morning with awareness and movement. Gentle, moderate, and strong variations are taught. Click here to register.

Reiki Therapy Virtual Workshop @ 10am- Brandi Rivait is a yoga teacher, Medical Reiki Master, Reiki Master & Trainer, Doula and owner of Integrative Healing and Yoga.  Brandi will be leading an interactive reiki workshop including an introduction to reiki and hands-on activities. To register on Blackboard, email krisloug@uwindsor.ca to receive a link to attend the workshop.

Lift with Lyds @ 12pm- Forge Fitness Centre student supervisor Lydia leads a one hour lifting workout that will work all areas of the body. Click here to register.

Take the Moment with Coco @ 2pm- this session can be done seated at your desk and supported by a chair, encouraging you to relax and steady your mind and body to enhance proper concentration and to stretch your joints. Various meditation techniques, including Mindfulness Meditation and ancient practices, are taught along with breathwork, balance and posture. Click here to register.

20/20/20 Workout with Laura @ 5pm- an all-levels full body workout that focuses on lower, upper, and core strength. This high energy class is broken down into circuits that include bodyweight exercises with the option of using bands and weights to increase difficulty. Click here to register.

Stretch and Strength with Bella @ 6pm- join instructor and captain of the Lancer dance team Bella as she leads a one hour class that focuses on both stretching and strengthening your body through dance. Click here to register.

HK Society Health and Wellness Bingo- open to HK students and student athletes, HK Society has organized a health and wellness bingo where the winner will receive a gift card.

Wednesday January 27

UWSA Virtual Paint Night @ 5pm- paint with us, virtually of course! We’ve invited Dr. Justine Shuey to bring her painting talents to all of us at home. Pull out your canvas and let’s get started. We’ll be giving away a painting set from Michael’s to one lucky winner! Click here to Register.

Body Barre with Bella @ 6pm- another class with Lancer dance team captain Bella takes you through a dance workout inspired by elements of ballet, yoga, and pilates. Click here to register.

Office of Student Experience Epic Bingo @ 7pm- Epic Bingo is back for the winter term! Join us on LIVE on the UWindsor's Youtube channel for a night for epic fun and epic prizes! Take a Walk to Green Bean for a free hot chocolate and cookie- the University of Windsor Student Centre and Residence Services are coming together on Windsor Wednesday to offer a free hot chocolate and cookie to students at the Green Bean. Visit @uofwstudentcentre on Instagram for more details

Music Therapy Workshop @ 10am- Rebecca Goldstein is a Music Therapist, Music Instructor and Reiki Master.  Her workshop is titled "Enhance Your Life With Music." This workshop will provide interactive opportunities for the participants and practical information about Music Therapy and its benefits! UWSA Mental Health Speaker #BellLetsTalk, Lancers! Presented by the Peer Support Centre @ 1pm- the UWSA Peer Support Centre has invited mental health educator, Suicide prevention & mental health works, from the Canadian Mental Health Association – Windsor-Essex Branch, Jenny-Lee Almeida to give us some big brain tips to help us get through the new semester. Jenny-Lee encourages students to ask questions throughout the presentation. One lucky winner will win a self-care basket! This event will be live on the UWSA Facebook page.

Science Society “Share Your ____” Bell Let’s Talk- within the blank students are given the opportunity to cater the event to them by filling in things such as journey, story, struggle etc. on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. In participating in the virtual photo booth and posting a video or photo on the above mentioned platforms (while ensuring they meet the donation requirement for Bell Lets Talk ex. hashtags or filters) and tagging Science Society students are entered in a competition. Big prizes which support our local business will be distributed to top 3 winners. Entries are ranked on thoughtfulness, impact, and message.

HK Staff/Faculty Bystander Training- The ‘Faculty of Human Kinetics Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee’ (formerly the ‘Equity Committee’) will be hosting the Bystander Workshop for staff, coaches, and faculty to coincide with the many other ‘Revive & Thrive’ week activities that are scheduled for the week of January 25th to 29th. Dr. Kevin Milne has collaborated with Dr. Frances (Frankie) Chacon from the Bystander Initiative office to provide additional content to address anti-racism in order to extend the bystander practices beyond sexual harassment into other forms of social harassment. Yoga Nidra with Coco @ 7pm- As Revive and Thrive week comes to an end, treat yourself with this deeply restorative and meditative ancient practice. Yoga Nidra translates to "psychic sleep".  Participants will be guided toward the edge of wakefulness and sleep, where the body is deeply relaxed yet the mind is awake and attentive to the guided meditation.   It is relaxing for the body and mind. The session will start with a few minutes of soft stretches preparing the body to be able to lay still for the duration of the practice.   Dim your lights, get your cozies on, and relax on the floor with pillows and a blanket.
