Biomedical

The Institute for Diagnostic Imaging Research is conduction applied research in the biomedical field, with a heavy emphasis on acoustical microscopy

Acoustical microscopy is powerful tool for non-destructive materials characterization and we’re confident in predicting that, although ultrasonic testing methods have been favoured application for many years, acoustical microscopy represents the “next-generation” technology for providing HQ imaging of samples.

Here’s how it works:

  • The microscope generates acoustic (sound) waves which are focused down to a small sample region. It then detects the acoustic signal reflected back
  • Next, state-of-the-art spatial scanning reveals the distribution of elastic properties of the sample in the form on an acoustic image
