Important Nursing information re WUFA work stoppage Thurs, Sept 18/14 morning

September 17, 2014: Please read this important Nursing information regarding the Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA) work stoppage on the morning of Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This important information provides further clarification to the message sent out from the Provost's office earlier today.

At this time, clinical placement shift schedules and labs that are cancelled cannot be re-scheduled, moved or extended to accommodate for tomorrow's work stoppage.

BScN Year 1:
Clinical Course 11-63-172, sections 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, and 20 will be cancelled for the morning only, and will resume at 1:00 p.m. 63-172 instructors may notify their students about where to meet at 1:00 p.m.

Health Assessment I Labs - 11-63-166, sections 56 and 57 will be cancelled.

BScN Year 2:
Clinical Course 11-63-272, sections 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 21, and 22 - if the clinical shift is scheduled for the day shift (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), the entire clinical day will be cancelled. If the clinical shift is scheduled for the afternoon shift (3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.), it will be held as scheduled.

Skills labs - 11-63-272, sections 56 and 57 will be cancelled. Section 58 - lab will resume at 1:00 p.m. instead of 12:30 p.m.

BScN Year 3:
Clinical Course 11-63-372, sections 21, 24, 26, 30, 31, 35, 44, 45, 46 - if the clinical shift is scheduled for the day shift (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), the entire clinical day will be cancelled. If the clinical shift is scheduled for the afternoon shift (3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.), it will be held as scheduled.

Clinical Course 11-63-372, section 14 (Acute Psych, WRH, Ouellette campus) - will be cancelled for the entire day.

Clinical Course 11-63-372, sections 12 and 34 (Community Health) - will be cancelled for the morning only, and will resume at 1:00 p.m.

Counselling/Communication Labs -11-63-372, section 82 will be cancelled.

BScN Year 4:
Clinical Courses 11-63-472 (Hospital) and 11-63-476 (Community) - all sections: Students in preceptored clinical placements may still continue your clinical shifts as scheduled in order to allow you to meet the required clinical hours for the course. In the absence of your faculty advisor or instructor, you may contact Associate Dean Susan Fox at her special extension (519.253.3000, x7466) in case of any emergency while at your preceptored clinical placement. This will only be in effect for the morning of Thursday, September 18/14 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. If you decide not to go to your scheduled preceptored clinical placement on the morning of Thursday, September 18/14 in support of the WUFA work stoppage, you must notify your preceptor that you will not be present.

4th Year Simulation Experiences scheduled for the morning of Thursday, September 18, 2014 will be cancelled. Simulation experiences scheduled for the afternoon (1:00 p.m. onwards) will be held as scheduled.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Students:
NP Students taking 11-63-557 - AHAD I and/or 11-63-561 - Therapeutics I: Students in preceptored clinical placements may still continue your clinical shifts as scheduled in order to allow you to meet the required clinical hours for the course. In the absence of your tutor or instructor, you may contact Associate Dean Susan Fox at her special extension (519.253.3000, x7466) in case of any emergency while at your preceptored clinical placement. This will only be in effect for the morning of Thursday, September 18/14 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. If you decide not to go to your scheduled preceptored clinical placement on the morning of Thursday, September 18/14 in support of the WUFA work stoppage, you must notify your preceptor that you will not be present.
