9:00 - 9:30 CHECK-IN FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS/FAMILY/ GUESTS (Toldo Lobby)

9:30 – 9:35 FACULTY WELCOME (Toldo 100) 

Receive a warm UWindsor welcome from Dean Bill Van Heyst from the Faculty of Engineering and listen to his advice about how you can achieve your highest potential inside and outside the classroom. Dean Bill Van Heyst can provide a wealth of knowledge about our professional programs and extracurricular opportunities that will give you the best start on your journey towards an exciting career.

9:40 – 10:10 UNIVERSITY 101 PROGRAM (Toldo 100) 

Learn about the differences between high school and university and what it takes to be a successful student on our campus.

10:20 – 11:00 STUDENT PANEL (Toldo 100) 

Get the inside scoop on what it’s like to be a student in university from upper year students already attending the university.

 

11:00 – 11:45 STUDENT CAMPUS TOUR 

Take a tour of the campus to see the many resources available! Locate the buildings where some of your classes will be held and get connected with other first year students.

 

11:45 – 12:45 PROGRAM SUCCESS SESSION – ENGINEERING (CEI 1100) 

This is your opportunity to meet professors and advisors from your academic program. Learn about your program, what time management strategies you need to adopt to be successful in your program, the various support services available to you, and what you can do with your degree after graduation.                                     

10:10 – 10:25 PARENT, FAMILY AND GUEST BREAK (Toldo Lobby)

10:25 – 11:25 PARENT, FAMILY AND GUEST PROGRAM (Toldo 104) 

Meet our student leaders and get valuable information about how you can support your student as they commence on their new academic journey. Learn the important differences between high school and university expectations. Understand the financial commitments required to complete a university program. Leaders will share information about student privacy policies, available mental health resources, academic accommodations, support resources and campus community safety initiatives. 

11:35 – 12:05 PARENT, FAMILY AND GUEST CAMPUS TOUR  

Take a tour of the campus to see the many resources and services available on our campus! Learn where your student will attend classes.

12:10 – 12:40 PARENT, FAMILY AND GUEST STUDENT PANEL (Katzman Lounge) 

Our parents, guests and family members can learn answers to commonly asked questions they have when their student is transitioning to university. 

 

AFTERNOON SCHEDULE 

12:45– 1:30 LUNCH (Chrysler Hall Tower Courtyard) 

Reunite with your family members and new friends! Eat lunch and take part in any of the various tour opportunities we have to offer. Have a question about the meal plan? Don’t know where to pick up your UWin ID? Feel free to visit one of the campus service booths or ask any of our staff members in navy blue and gold shirts.

 

OPTIONAL AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES 

1:30 – 2:00 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (Dillon Hall 354) 

Learning how to live on a budget for the first time? Not to worry, this session will provide you with many of the strategies you will need to successfully manage your finances as a post-secondary student. Students will also learn about the many scholarships and bursaries our university offers, how OSAP works and all the important dates to remember. At the conclusion of this session, participants will be provided an opportunity to tour Residence, Leddy Library, Lancer Sport and Recreation.

(Lower Level of the CAW Student Centre)

Your UWinCARD will be available for pick up after August 15th. Government issued photo I.D. is required.

QUESTIONS THROUGHOUT THE DAY? 

* Visit the Information Desk located in the Anthony P. Toldo Health Education Centre Lobby during the morning or the Late Check In table at lunch hour or ask a professional staff member in a blue polo.

AFTERNOON TOURS 

(Leaving the DJ Booth at 1:30pm) 

LIVING OFF CAMPUS TOUR: This tour takes around 1.5 hours to complete and includes the following stops: 

Leddy Library (10 mins)  

Engineering Building Tour (20 mins)

Toldo Lancer Centre (40 mins) 

 

LIVING ON CAMPUS TOUR: This tour takes around 1.5 hours to complete and includes the following stops: 

Leddy Library (10 mins)  

Residence (30-45 mins) 

Engineering Building Tour (20 mins)

Note: You do NOT need to stay for the whole tour! You are welcome to leave/join the tour at any time. If there is anything else you would like to see that is not on this schedule, please ask one of our staff members in the blue and gold shirts!
