Dear Colleagues,
I am writing with an update on WUFA’s next Summer Speaker Series being held on Tuesday, August 16th at Noon.
The Laws and Regulations that Govern Ontario Labour Unions. This session will feature Laurie Kent of the Koskie Minsky Law Firm (https://kmlaw.ca/lawyers/laurie-kent/). Ms. Kent will be speaking about the basics of the legal rubrics that labour unions in Ontario operate under and how this relates to the duties that they owe to their membership. This initiative comes from WUFA’s Governance Committee members who felt that the membership as a whole would benefit from this discussion as well. From there, Ms. Kent will also speak on how labour unions can best incorporate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices in their governing documents.
