SEMESTER 7

IMPORTANT - All Mechanical Engineering Programs may follow Path A (calendar based on the year of program start) or Path B (see below).  Path B represents a course reduction of 1 course for all Specializations and 2 courses for No Specialization (i.e. General).**

All Students will take, regardless of PATH A or B:

MECH-4218       Thermofluid Systems Design

MECH-4200A    Capstone Design

MECH-4211       Design for Failure Prevention

MECH-3224       Engineering Measurements

PATH A:  Please review the corresponding undergraduate calendar for the term you started.  Seek assistance** from your academic advisor if you are uncertain on your course requirements or if you are uncertain which Path is best for you.

PATH B:

Additional to the above courses take up to two more course as follows:

Aerospace Option

MECH-4670     Aerospace Propulsion

One course from the Automotive Technical Electives

Aerospace Technical Electives

MECH-3671     Aerospace Materials and Manufacturing

MECH-4673     Aerospace Structures

Automotive Option

MECH-4463       Vehicle Dynamics

One course from the Automotive Technical Electives

Automotive Technical Electives

MECH-4471     Automotive Materials and Manufacturing

MECH-4465     Internal Combustion Engines

Environmental Option**

ENVE-3620        Air Pollution Control

ENVE-3630        Water/Wastewater Treatment

** Please see academic advisor regarding your electives as ENVE-3640 will not fit schedule, so an alternative course will be need to be found and taken in the Summer semester

Materials Option:

MECH-3671     Aerospace Materials and Manufacturing

MECH-4871     Automotive Materials and Manufacturing

General Mechanical***

MECH- 4253    HVAC

One course from the General Mechanical Technical Electives OR no course (please read below)

General Mechanical Technical Electives

***For students following Path B, you must have 4 technical electives in total which must include MECH-4253 - HVAC (Winter 2026), Vibrations (Summer 2025 or Summer 2026), and 2 additional elective courses that have a code 32XX or 42XX.  If you took an elective in your third year, you can consider not taking one of the listed electives this semester and take it in your final semester.  Following are technical electives eligible for Path B Mechanical General:

MECH-4250                 Gas Dynamics

MECH-4240-05            Special Topics – Advanced Mechatronics
