Program Benefits

Outstanding Scholar - Year 1

Imagine yourself as an Outstanding Scholar. In their first year, Outstanding Scholar candidates receive $750 per semester, in addition to any other entrance award they may receive.

Outstanding Scholar - Years 2-4

During Year 1, our advising helps to prepare you to compete for one of 80 Academic Appointments that begin in second year. Students outside the Outstanding Scholars program will also be eligible to compete for admission to the program at the end of their first year.

If successful, you formally become a University of Windsor Outstanding Scholar beginning in Year 2. As such, you will participate in university research, and work under faculty supervision outside the classroom. You will enjoy the kind of personal attention and one-to-one contact with faculty that can open doors to future careers.

The OS program also offers financial support for travel to academic conferences, and for research funding opportunities outside Canada. Travel funding is available by application, through an annual competition.

Outstanding Scholars earn up to $1,500 per semester for their work during second, third, and fourth years.

Outstanding Scholar - Graduation

Upon graduation, if an Outstanding Scholar has completed six Academic Appointments during Years 2, 3, and 4, she or he will receive a notation on their University of Windsor transcript confirming completion of the program.
