Manager, Homelessness & Housing Support

I run the Program of Active Living, a specialized Program with Schlegel Villages, in a Long Term Care Facility of 192 residents. I provide exercise programming, group programming, and perform transfer and mobility assessments for the residents. I also provide education to team members on ergonomics and biomechanics. I work alongside PT and OT for rehabilitation and mobility equipment for residents to help them achieve their optimal functioning and best quality of life.

Director of Program for Active Living
I manage the Program for Active Living (PAL) at the Village at St. Clair. This is a long term care home for 254 residents . PAL is a unique and innovative program which is designed to improve the quality of life of our residents by maximizing their independence. This is accomplished through the collaborative efforts of our residents and their families with our therapy team. The PAL team combines all three disciplines-Kinesiology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
We have two full time, in-house RKINs who provide innovative programming to engage our residents both physically and cognitively. Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy are contracted through Novo Peak Health Inc., and is based on referral.
The PAL team conducts transfer consultation with the neighbourhood team to optimize transfer safety and ability and conducts equipment consultation to identify needs and assist with adaptive equipment. PAL team conducts assessments in areas of balance, range of motion, mobility, muscle strength, fine motor skills etc. For interested participants, an individual program is developed based on the results of the assessments.
PAL also plays a lead in the Falls Prevention Program. Falls are tracked and analyzed with interventions put in place to assist in the prevention of falls and injuries.
