"I’m fortunate enough to be doing my co-op work term at the Toronto Stock Exchange in downtown Toronto as a software developer and tester. I develop new applications and test existing applications and am surrounded by hard-working, experienced developers that help further my knowledge in software development.
Through this experience, I’m gaining lots of experience in developing code by working on various projects and have been given lots of independent opportunity to develop and design applications that will continue to be used by the TMX Group long after my term finishes.
My co-op experience has helped prepare me for the “real world” as I’m learning what the business world is all about and the level of commitment it takes to be successful in a job. I’m fortunate to work with supportive and successful people who are sharing their experiences and tips with me.
Some of the lessons I’ve learned through my co-op experience are:
- Work hard every day because it will show!
- Show up early because it makes a good impression and shows you’re interested and invested and eager to learn!
- Enjoy every moment of your work term because it will feel short and be over before you know it!"
