In its first year returning to competition, the UWindsor chapter of an undergraduate business leadership development organization claimed three awards in national case study competition, Jan. 20 to 23 in Toronto.

Petar Bratic and Foula Christopoulos are co-presidents of the University of Windsor chapter of ACE Canada, formerly DECA U Canada. The two had participated as first-year students in 2020 and saw the local club taper off in the intervening time before reviving it in the fall semester.

“We hope the University of Windsor continues being represented and that younger students continue having the opportunity to experience the competition,” says Bratic. “Considering that our goal was just keeping the team alive, our team definitely exceeded expectations with our results.”

More than 1,000 delegates gathered for the competition. Bratic and Christopoulos placed second in the business law team category; first-time competitor Jaden Davidson placed in the top five in the accounting and corporate finance category, and the UWindsor chapter received recognition for highest growth in a year.

Mitchell Fields, dean of the Odette School of Business, said the school is very proud of its students’ achievement: “The excellence and commitment of our students never ceases to amaze me. Congratulations to the team on their superb performance.”

Participants received support from the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance and Odette Commerce Society to help fund their travel. Besides Bratic, Christopoulos, and Davidson, they included Han Tran, Ashley Deslippe, Tadiwa Chitekeshe, and Brenden Tong.
