Continuing Education Fair presents options for students

Hundreds of students discussed options for further study with representatives from dozens of institutions yesterday.

The Continuing Education Fair filled the CAW Student Centre Commons as patrons spoke face-to-face with admissions officers, recruiters, and faculty from across North America.

Third-year psychology student Stephanie Jackson said she plans to pursue graduate study and was glad to see how many options are available.

Gold medal winner grateful for chemistry prof's romantic alchemy

After eight years of hard work in Rob Schurko’s lab, Aaron Rossini has a BSc, a PhD and a Governor General’s Gold Medal to show for his efforts. And while he appreciates the educational opportunities working with the chemistry professor afforded him, it was Dr. Schurko’s subtle match-making abilities for which he’s probably most grateful.

Fair a showcase for continuing education programs

The Centre for Career Education has partnered with the Faculty of Graduate Studies to host the university's sixth annual Continuing Education Fair Monday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the CAW Student Centre Commons.

Almost 40 educational institutions will showcase their graduate and post-graduate programs, providing University of Windsor students with the opportunity to interact with representatives from across North America and beyond. Attendees will learn about programs and application requirements, deadline dates and new initiatives.

Cello and piano recital to boast Russian flair

Pianist Philip Adamson and cellist Ben Gitter enjoy the energy and complexity of 20th century music. For their recital this weekend, they have chosen an all-Russian program which includes Igor Stravinsky’s Suite italienne, sonatas by Dmitri Kabelevsky and Nikolai Miaskovsky, and two works by Nikolai Kapustin.

The recital is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 30, in Assumption University Chapel.

Student-organized week of activities to celebrate campus cultural diversity

The cultural diversity of its campus community is what makes the University of Windsor unique, says Josh Paglione.

Director of student life for the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, he has issued a call for participation in a week of activities to celebrate that diversity. Viva Cultural Diversity Week is scheduled for November 14 to 18, during International Education Week.

“UWSA advocates for students and we are representing a very diverse group,” Paglione says. “We want to engage students in this week, build some excitement on campus.”

Curtain rises on Chameleon

The University Players production of Chameleon opened Thursday at Essex Hall Theatre.

The play –  written, directed and designed by drama professor William Pinnell – is a thriller set in a souvenir emporium in the fictional town of Indian Cliffs, New Mexico.
