The University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business seeks applications for Canada Research Chair – Tier 2 Decent Work and Economic Growth (Internal) position commencing as early as July 2026.

Canada Research Chair Position

This position will be appointed in the Odette School of Business to a faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track or tenured). The Tier 2 CRC program is intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e. an individual who has been an active researcher in their field who is normally within 10 years of their PhD conferral), recognized by their peers as performing high-impact research and creative activities at the national and international level, and has the potential to lead in their field for the foreseeable future. The successful applicant should, at a minimum, be an Assistant or Associate Professor or possess the necessary qualifications. This internal position is subject to final budgetary approval and approval of the nomination by the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat (TIPS).

The Odette School of Business has strong research programs and a growing international reputation. In collaboration with colleagues across the Faculty and university-wide, the incumbent will build on existing scholarship to advance research related to decent work, inclusive and equitable employment, entrepreneurship, labour market innovation, and economic policy, and their applications in real-world contexts.

The successful candidate will be appointed in the Odette School of Business, and will build on existing strengths, cultivate new research collaborations and explore emerging opportunities to enhance academic programming at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will establish, coordinate and lead collaborative teams engaging colleagues in Business and across campus (e.g. Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Social Science, and Indigenous Scholars), and research institutes (e.g. GLIER, WE-SPARK, and the Black Scholars Institute). In addition, the successful candidate will also have demonstrated a record of success in attracting, supervising and mentoring graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

The ideal candidate for the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Decent Work and Economic Growth will be expected to satisfy the following:

  • An exceptional emerging scholar that holds a Ph.D.  in one of the six disciplinary areas within the Odette School Business—Accounting, Business Data Analytics and Supply Chain Management, Finance, Management and Labour Relations, Marketing, Strategy and Entrepreneurship—or an equivalent discipline in Business.  The candidate will have the necessary qualifications to be appointed at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. The candidate will be expected to propose an original and innovative research program with high-potential for transformative and impactful research results and outcomes.
  • An emerging scholar is defined as a researcher who has obtained their Ph.D. within the last 10 years at the time of nomination. Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their Ph.D. degrees (and where career breaks exist, such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, slowdowns due to chronic illness or disability, etc.) may still be eligible to apply through the CRC Tier 2 justification process.   • A successful record in establishing, conducting, coordinating, and leading multi-disciplinary and collaborative research programs, including assertively obtaining extramural funding. This includes fostering relationships with the external community and stakeholders (e.g. governments and agencies). The successful candidate will establish their research program to complement the interdisciplinary research environment existing across the research community at the University of Windsor and beyond. The successful candidate should have the potential to attract, develop, and retain excellent trainees, students, and future researchers.
  • The ability to teach in the Odette School of Business and supervise undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows. The University of Windsor is especially interested in candidates who are committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion with the learning and research environment and who have a track record of, or the potential for attracting, developing, retaining, and working with diverse trainees, students, and future researchers, including those from equity groups. This includes making learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population.
  • The candidate should have demonstrated the potential to achieve or further augment their international recognition in their discipline within the next five to ten years.

The initial term of the Tier 2 CRC is five years with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance review as per CRC policies and guidelines.

Compensation:

The salary range for the rank is outlined in Article A Table A.1 of the current Collective Agreement with the Windsor University Faculty Association. The compensation offered to the successful candidate will take into consideration the existing salary structure.  A full range of benefits including a pension plan and medical benefits are available to the successful candidate.
