GLIER researchers Drs. Christopher Weisener, Scott Mundle, Daniel Heath and Ken Drouillard along with many partners from industry, government agencies and academic institutions will develop methods to characterize microbial communities which can influence nutrient release from sediment in various water sources in the Great Lakes Basin. They will achieve this by developing an Open Array TM chip to detect DNA and RNA in the sediment.
