GLIER researchers studying Algal Bloom on Thames River

Dr. Mike McKay, Professor and Executive Director of GLIER, and Post Doctoral Fellow Thijs Frenken have responded to a sudden algal bloom on the Thames River.  They have been sampling the water in the river over the last few days, to determine if there are harmful toxins in the water due to the algae.  They are awaiting results of the anlayses to determine if there are toxins, and are advising people to use caution around the river, and keep pets away until conclusions can be made about the toxiicity.
