Dr. Mike McKay, Director of GLIER and a team of collegues in conjunction with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks, have received an addional $540,000 in funding to continue monitoring and tracking COVID-19 in wastewater. They have been monitoring COVID-19 in wastewater since early in the pandemic in Windsor, Leamington, Amherstburg, Lakeshore, London, Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay, and Thunder Bay. COVID-19 detection in wastewater can be an early warning sign of community levels of the virus.
