The commercial fisheries in the Great Lakes are a huge business, and once the fish that are caught are processed for consumption there is waste leftover from the process. A collaboration between Science and Business students at the University of Windsor is carrying out trials to turn the fish waste into Dog Trials. GLIER professor Dr. Trevor Pitcher and graduate student Dennis Otieno are helping lead the science end of the project, which they hope will eventually be able to use 100% of the byproducts generated into useable products. The goal then is to have the business students test the viability and market to have the product successfully marketed to the public and their pets.
