UofW IHI Open School

The Faculty of Nursing is leading the University of Windsor Chapter of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School for Health Professionals.

Our chapter continues to grow in the number of members, its accomplishments, and popularity. It has been recognized as one of the most active IHI chapters in Canada.

Aim: To educate interprofessional students and faculty on improving the safety and quality of the healthcare system.

Chapter Objectives:

  • Generate local awareness of and excitement for quality improvement and patient safety among the next generation of providers.
  • Advance quality improvement and patient safety competencies on our campus and throughout the community.
  • Highlight the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) six competencies

To Join the IHI Open School List-Serve:

There are currently over 500 members on the IHI Open School list-serve, and we welcome new members. Our membership is comprised of students in healthcare related programs (i.e. nursing, medicine, social work, etc.); practitioners (i.e. nurses, physicians, pharmacists, etc); as well as anyone else with an interest in patient safety (i.e. family members).
