Important information regarding your police clearance effective Fall 2010

The RCMP has added additional safe-guards for the vulnerable sector enhanced screening process. Some of you may be asked to arrange a fingerprinting screen when you receive your initial response to the police clearance. If you are in this situation, please bring your most recent last police clearance and the documentation showing that you are going through this fingerprinting process to show your clinical instructor on the first day of your clinical course. This fingerprinting process may take an additional several weeks.

Sick Note Practice

After consultation with health authorities, the University is returning to its usual sick note practice for student absenteeism, effective immediately. It had been suspended temporarily last semester in light of the H1N1 influenza pandemic. The University continues to encourage those who are ill to stay home to recuperate and of course, to notify their instructors of their absences.

Clinical placements in the US

The Faculty of Nursing has suspended all student clinical activities in the U.S. until such time that legal arrangements are made with Immigration. Questions regarding this policy may be directed to your Level Coordinator.

Important Information on Voluntarily Withdraw from a required nursing or non nursing course

Please note that no student should VW (voluntarily withdraw) from a required nursing or non nursing course (eg. Human Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, etc.) without first seeking academic counselling. Dropping a required nursing or non-nursing course could prevent you from progressing into the next term of the nursing program.

Please speak to your level coordinator with any questions you may have regarding dropping a course.
