Research Interests:

Under my new appointment, I am researching machine scheduling for reconfigurable manufacturing system (RMS). In the field of manufacturing systems, scheduling is an important decision that directly influences the productivity (doing more jobs with the same machines). There is an extended product family grouped into subfamilies each of which includes several parts/jobs of the extended family. Each part consists of several operations with its precedence relations among them. Each subfamily requires a predetermined configuration of systems. To reconfigure the system, a major setup has to be done.

To begin with, the problem is being formulated by a mixed integer linear programming model. Then, since the problem is NP-hard, two metaheuristic algorithms, based on artificial immune algorithms are also developed.
