A: We continue to work with Public Health unit to ensure that we are operating within their guidelines. We are also working with the University’s Pandemic Planning Committee to determine what physical restrictions are required within residence to ensure the health and safety of our students.
A: You are required to follow the same provincial regulations as everyone, which includes physical distancing whenever possible. Due to the community nature of a residence building it is strongly recommended that you wear a mask when you are in the common spaces such as the lounges, lobbies, hallways, kitchens, laundry rooms and elevators. Following these guidelines helps to ensure your safety and the safety of others around you.
A: If there is a resurgence of the virus during the fall semester, the University will continue to adhere by the requirements of Government and Public Health guidance to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. If students are required to leave residence and move home, the university will make determinations on residence fees at that time. Should students not have alternative places to stay or inability to travel, exceptional circumstance requests will be reviewed.
A: We will only be offering single room accommodation during the fall semester in residence. Moving to a double room with your preferred roommate may be an option if Public Health restrictions are relaxed through the fall semester.
A: The Residence Deposit is a commitment that you are proceeding with your residence application and assignment. Please contact to resservices@uwindsor.ca and we will try to work with you.
A: Resident Assistants are available in our community to provide support to students and to provide online programing and events for students living on their floor. Community Assistants provide supports and programming on a larger scale to entire residence community. In addition, Residence Life Staff are available 24/7 for emergencies.
A: Our Residence Life Team is working hard to ensure that you can still meet other people, make friends and have a great time this fall! Although the majority of our events and supports will take place online, we know that we'll be building a community of Lancers that will connect in new and creative ways.
A: You can apply to residence at any time but room assignments will be based on availability.
Residence students will be living in Alumni Hall.
The Bru (Alumni Hall) is open daily from 8:30 am - 7:30 pm. New for this year, the Bru will serve hot meals at lunch from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm, and at dinner from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm. A modified breakfast program is being offered every morning which includes a variety of breakfast sandwiches, breakfast pastries and breakfast parfaits.
The Bru's pizza and sub shop is open daily from 11:00 am to close.
A reminder to all customers to practice social distancing and wear a face mask while inside the store.
There will be one branded coffee shop open on campus, Starbucks. The Croc and University Club in Vanier will not be operating as per our normal operations, nor will food outlets be open in the CAW Student Centre.
Student meal plans can also be used at some local restaurants who have partnered with Food Services. The current line-up of partners include, Pizza Pizza, Harveys/Swiss Chalet, Green Bean Café, and Mare Nostrum.
Food Services is committed to opening additional services as students, staff and faculty gradually return to campus.
When selecting a meal plan for Fall 2020 we are recommending the Minimum or Light plan.
A: To allow for late arrivals and students to transition to new living environments, room switch requests will be reviewed at the end of September.
A: Your Resident Assistant will be running online programs to introduce you to other people living on your floor and when possible they will host in-person activities. This whole online world might mean that you have to put in a little extra effort to meet people and our residence life team is right here with you to help!
A: At this time, guests from outside of residence will not be permitted. Your safety and the safety of your fellow residents is our primary concern and therefore we need to limit the number of outside people gathering in our buildings. You will be permitted to have guests from other residence buildings.
A: We do have some additional temporary standards in place that you should be aware of at https://www.uwindsor.ca/residence/1037/residence-community-standards. These standards will be regularly reviewed, and altered as the situation changes.
