A Message from the Housing and Residence Life Team:
Thank you for being a part of our residence community, we hope we can make your move-out a smooth and easy process!
If you are withdrawing and moving out prior to the end of your contract, please review our Cancellation/Withdrawal information and contact housing@uwindsor.ca if you have any questions or concerns.
If you need a few extra days to move-out at the end of the term, you must submit an Extension Request Form for approval (the Extension Form is available at end of term; prior to exams).
Note: Extension requests are not accepted at end of summer term except for students moving to new room assignment for the next term.
Move Out: Digital Self-Checkout Form
- If you have been approved to withdraw from Residence early (before end of term), you must complete the self-check out process to avoid charges
- End of term move out deadline is within 24 hours of your last exam OR by 11am of the alternate exam date, whichever comes first
- Review Self-Checkout Policy for further information
- Pack & Clean – Ensure your room is empty and tidy, take a photo to upload
- Log In – Complete the self-check out form on the residence portal
- Upload a Photo – During the self-check out process, submit a picture of your empty, clean room
- Return Your Keys – Place them in a self check-out envelope and drop them in the designated mail slot in the lobby area of your building. Rodzik Hall residents: Physical keys received at move-in time must be left on bedroom desk upon move out
- Return your room to its original condition.
- Take out garbage & recycling (including fridge items).
- Reset furniture to its original position.
- Remove decorations (tape, adhesives, posters, etc.).
- Close windows & lock your door.
- Return your keys – Avoid a $125 lock change fee + $10 per key.
- Complete the self-check out process – Avoid a $125 fee.
- ALL STEPS outlined in the self-checkout process must be completed prior to leaving residence to avoid additional charges.
- Please limit the number of individuals assisting with your move as other students may still be preparing for exams.
- If you have a roommate/suitemate, please ensure they are aware of when you will have people in your room.
- Housing and Residence Life does not provide on-site storage
- Housing and Residence does not forward mail, please be sure to update address information for any incoming mail. Mail received after move-out will be returned to sender
