Program Overview
The LEAD program offers a variety of ways for students to be involved that matches their leadership, goals and availability while supporting the needs of incoming Lancers.
Details and Important Dates for each stream are detailed below. Students must be available for 75% of the dates listed in stream A and B, 50% in stream C, to be eligible.
Program Streams
There are three different streams available to both new and returning LEAD students.
This leadership role plays in an integral part in supporting our summer orientation program designed to ease the first-year student transition.

This leadership role plays in an integral part in supporting our Fall orientation program designed to welcome incoming students, support their transition to university and develop new connections with others!

Sunday, September 6th – 12: Welcome Week
Note: Details regarding Welcome Week events will be provided later.
This leadership role goes above and beyond, supporting both HeadStart and Welcome Week programming. Students in this leadership role will gain extensive experience in event management, collaboration, public speaking and more. It is a great opportunity to gain experience and apply to be a Summer Staff in the following year.
Important Dates
Students in this stream are asked to be available for 50% of the dates for HeadStart and Welcome Week
(see streams A and B above).
Fall 2026/Winter 2027
Your LEAD involvement doesn’t just have to stop in September; we encourage all our LEAD students to continue with our LEAD program through the Fall and Winter semesters. More information and details regarding opportunities will be communicated in the Summer.
Recognition and Benefits
As an experiential learning opportunity, the LEAD program aims to support current undergraduate students in developing transferrable skills and gaining leadership experience.
Students in the LEAD program will develop several skills including:

- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Professionalism and Institutional Representation
- Problem Solving and Adaptability
Students in each of the streams will also receive formal recognition that can be used towards graduate school applications, added to resumes and used in future job interviews.
