"At the end of my undergraduate experience I had realized there were so many different opportunities that I had wished I had taken advantage of. As the saying goes "life gets in the way" which grows more accurate everyday. I had wished that perhaps if I had talked to older students in my first few years, or went and sought out different opportunities that I may have been a few extra steps forward. Now that I think of it, I do not blame myself for not taking those opportunities, when you are in your first year it is already a huge change and you're already trying so many different things that sometimes it's overwhelming to look for more. I realized something that may have helped would have been to have a fourth year or previous student as a mentor throughout my undergrad. When I had learned about the connecting 4 success program, I knew I wanted to help a first-year student with the little details that sometimes are presented to first-year students, except by someone who has already experienced it! Now in my second year of my Masters, I have not only gained a great new friend, but have also seen many great leadership qualities that she posses. She will take these qualities with her as she becomes a mentor for the Connecting 4 Success program next year!"
