Graduate and teaching assistants (GA/TAs) will support online courses just as they do in on-campus courses through grading and providing feedback on student work, responding to student questions, providing support during labs and tutorials, hosting virtual office hours, and additional responsibilities as defined in the GATA CUPE Local 4580 Collective Agreement . Instructors are encouraged to provide GA/TAs with the following resources and opportunities to support their transition to online teaching and teaching support:
- GA/TA Network Virtual Workshops
- GATAcademy : Professional Development for Graduate and Teaching Assistants, August 31-September 4
- Instructor How-To's with a variety of resources around using Brightspace for GA or TA duties
- One-on-One Consultations for those who cannot attend the pre-set office hours; email Laura Chittle or Elizabeth Ismail to arrange a time
- Remote Teaching: A Guide for Teaching Assistants (eBook from the University of Ottawa)
GAs and TAs are welcome to join the Virtual Brightspace Drop-in on Teams or the in-person Brightspace Drop-in at the CTL offices, or submit a ticket for individualized support.
