UWill Discover Model United Nations (MUN) is a free experiential learning opportunity open to University of Windsor students from every faculty and academic discipline.
Participants represent countries in simulated United Nations committees, research international issues, and work together through debate and negotiation. No previous experience is required.

What Is Model United Nations?
Model United Nations is an educational simulation of international diplomacy. Each delegate represents an assigned country and participates in discussions based on the procedures of the United Nations.
Delegates consider different national perspectives, negotiate with other representatives, and collaborate on responses to global challenges.
Why Participate?
Model United Nations helps students develop transferable skills through practical experience.

How Does Model United Nations Work?
- Represent a Country Receive a country assignment and learn about its international priorities.
- Research & Prepare Investigate the committee topics and prepare a position paper.
- Participate in Committee Sessions Present your country's perspectives, debate international issues, and negotiate with other delegates.
- Work Toward Consensus Collaborate with other representatives to identify shared interests and develop possible solutions.
From Participation to Student Leadership
UWill Discover Model United Nations grew from a student teams that participated in National Model United Nations in Washington, D.C. Students subsequently helped establish an accessible on-campus conference.
In spring 2026, student leaders extended this work into the community through UWinMUN, welcoming secondary school students from Windsor-Essex.
Led in part by Matthew Najem, Model UN president and secretary-general, and Taibat Idris, vice-president and deputy secretary-general, the event provided opportunities for younger students to experience diplomacy, debate, and university-level learning.

2024: National Recognition
The UWill Discover team earned a Distinguished Delegates Award at National Model United Nations in Washington, D.C.
Malaka Asfari also received an Outstanding Position Paper Award.
2025: Student Achievement
Students received recognition for outstanding research, presentations, diplomacy, and position papers at the 2025 conference.
