UWill Discover students build leadership — and pass it on

UWill Discover Model United Nations shows how experiential learning grows at the University of Windsor: students first develop their own skills in research, diplomacy, public speaking, and leadership, and then create those same opportunities for others.

In spring 2026, UWill Discover student leaders helped host UWinMUN, welcoming secondary school students from across Windsor-Essex to campus for a full Model United Nations experience. The event gave high school students the chance to debate global issues, draft resolutions, strengthen their confidence, and experience university-level learning in action.

Led in part by Matthew Najem, Model UN president and secretary-general, and Taibat Idris, vice-president and deputy secretary-general, the conference highlighted an important part of the UWill Discover model: UWindsor students do not simply participate in high-impact learning — they grow into mentors, organizers, and community leaders who extend that learning outward.

This student-to-student pathway is central to UWill Discover. By learning these skills at the university level and then sharing them with younger students, participants help build a culture of leadership, communication, and civic engagement that reaches well beyond campus.
