What is Political Science?
Political scientists study power: who holds it, how it is exercised and how our lives are influenced by politicians and bureaucrats. The study of political science will introduce students to political, economic and social issues in Canada and around the world.
What is International Relations?
The study of international relations addresses policy analyses, security, political economy, development, the role of women in international relations, and international history and law.
In our undergraduate program, faculty members who are active scholars and devoted instructors offer students individual attention and close supervision. In the upper year seminars, students learn about the nature of power through develping research techniques, critical thinking skills, and argumentation and presentation techniques. Writing skills are developed and refined in the preparation of course papers. The graduate program prepares students equally for continuing with the academic study of Political Science at the doctoral level and for a variety of careers, including those in law, banking politics, the civil service, education and journalism.
A variety of awards and scholarships are available for entering and undergraduate students. Internships are available for fourth year students. Financial awards are available for graduate students.
