Awards Committee Volunteer Role Description (Role ID: V10-2020)


Role Purpose

This position, in collaboration other committee members, brings forward, reviews and evaluates nominations to recognize alumni at various stages in the alumni lifecycle via an awards recognition program.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review Award nominations prior to the meeting and choose recipients.
  • Bring forward nominations for consideration.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as scheduled.
  • Provide feedback on proposed budget and make recommendations for spending.
  • Together with other Committee members, assess the merit of the nominations based on the materials submitted.
  • Evaluate nominations and score on an evaluation rubric.
  • Speak to the merits of the nominations.
  • Represent the Alumni Association at Awards recognition events.

Skills / Qualifications

Required skills / qualifications include:

  • An interest in recognizing alumni through the lifecycle.
  • Knowledge or the Association’s goals and objectives
  • Preference given to graduates of the University of Windsor.

Time Commitment

  • The Awards Committee meets generally twice a year (April and May) from noon to 1 pm. (Time subject to change)
  • Time to review several nominations in advance of the meeting. Amount of time may vary depending on the number of nominations.

Working Conditions

  • Meetings are generally held on campus. Microsoft Teams video conference and phone-in options are available if members are unable to attend in person.
