University Bookstore to host fair for technology vendors Wednesday

The University Bookstore invites students, staff and faculty to meet representatives from its two leading suppliers, Apple Canada and Win-Leader, during Technology Vendor Fair, on Wednesday, November 23 – yesterday’s edition of DailyNews published the wrong date.

Vendors will display a wide range of new technology products and answer consumer questions from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the bookstore.

University community invited to watch Many in Motion relay

The Many in Motion relay, retracing the Canadian segment of Rick Hansen’s original Man in Motion World Tour, will cross the University of Windsor campus at about 4 p.m. today.

The medal bearers are scheduled to run south on Sunset Avenue from University Avenue to Wyandotte Street, stopping for a five-minute break at about 4 p.m. Michael Ayotte, a UWindsor human kinetics student and captain of the Lancer golf team, is slated for this leg of the relay.

Session to offer information on mental illness

The Psychological Services and Research Centre will host a discussion for students struggling with mental illness on Tuesday, November 22, at 4:30 p.m. in Vanier Hall’s Oak Room.

Beautiful Minds will share stories of individuals living satisfying lives despite a mental health disability, says Annette Dufresne. She hopes the ensuing discussion will help the centre develop treatments and support groups to help meet the needs of students affected by an ongoing mental illness.

Curtain rises on Crimes of the Heart

The University Players production of the tragic comedy Crimes of the Heart opened Thursday at the Essex Hall Theatre. Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play depicts three sisters from a small Southern town, reunited after the youngest sister has shot her husband.

The campus production stars Stephanie Bitten as Lenny, Christina Bryson as Meg, and Margaret Evraire as Babe. It runs through November 27; Wednesday through Saturday performances are at 8 p.m., Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.

Mimosa breakfast to make women’s basketball fans part of the team

A champagne and orange juice celebratory breakfast in support of Lancer women's basketball will give fans a chance to meet the players and head coach Chantal Vallée, Sunday, December 4, at 10 a.m. in Ambassador Auditorium.

The event is a fundraiser in support of the team, which won its first-ever national championship last season.

Odette students host test drive to benefit children’s charity

A group of students in the Odette School of Business are hosting Drive One 4 Ur Community as a fundraiser for the John McGivney Children’s Centre on Saturday, November 19.

The event offers free test drives to licensed drivers at least 18 years old. A local car dealer will donate $20 to the charity for each test drive. The centre provides rehabilitative services to children and youth with disabilities and special needs.
