Hoarding to protect passers-by during window replacement in Chrysler Hall Tower

Facility Services will run a test demolition Wednesday, October 26, in preparation for a project to replace windows in Chrysler Hall Tower.

The bulk of the project will begin during the week of December 5, reports project administrator Kevin Francis. Changing out each window will take about one day, during which office occupants will be denied access. They will receive more directed notice as the start date nears.

Open house to celebrate Ann Dafoe retirement

The Psychological Services and Research Centre invites friends and colleagues of Ann Dafoe to an open house celebration of her retirement.

The event promises refreshments as well as a time to share memories and pay tribute to Dafoe for her many years of dedicated service.

It will run from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, in the centre, 326 Sunset Avenue.

 

Funding available for campus safety initiatives

The Campus Safety Audit Committee is seeking applications for funding for initiatives to promote safety for women on campus. The committee encourages creative, innovative proposals from members of the university community, including individuals or groups, faculty, staff and students.

Part-time students inviting awards nominations

The Organization of Part-time University Students invites nominations for its 20th annual awards banquet, to be held March 15, 2012.

The banquet recognizes professors and staff members and celebrates the contributions of part-time students and the organization’s members.

Lucky University Bookstore customers receive windfall

Three University Bookstore customers were singled out for special treatment during the September rush, receiving their purchases free.

Bookstore staff operated six cash registers during the peak selling season in the second week of classes, and a random throw of the die selected a winner on three separate days.

“The customers at the other five cash registers were given University of Windsor t-shirts as consolation prizes, so everybody left with smiles on their faces,” says marketing manager Martin Deck.

Campus mourns retiree death

Campus flags will be lowered today in memory of retiree Cleva Fallon, who died October 14. She joined the staff of Assumption University in 1953, became a library assistant in the University of Windsor’s Leddy Library in 1963 and was promoted to supervisor of the serials section in 1973, a position she held until her retirement in 1984.

United Way to unfurl banner over campus

The campus campaign for United Way will celebrate the start of its canvassing blitz today by raising a United Way banner to fly with the University's flag.

The university community is invited to a ceremonial flag-raising, Monday, October 17, at 12:45 p.m. outside Chrysler Hall Tower.
