Campus to join Windsor-Essex celebration of kindness

You don’t need an excuse to be nice, but you’ll have one anyway this Friday, November 4: the WindsorEssex Community Foundation has designated it Random Act of Kindness Day.

Individuals and groups are encouraged to perform one simple act of kindness for someone else – neighbours, friends, co-workers, or someone they don’t even know – and hand them a card, inspiring them to do the same.

President announces changes to University administrative structure

In a memo to faculty and staff Monday, UWindsor President Alan Wildeman announced changes to the structure of the University’s administration.

The restructuring will more clearly align administrative activities with the University’s academic mission and its students, improve the ability to support employees, and use effectively the financial and physical assets of the institution.

“An additional consequence of these changes is a reduction in costs of over 10 percent to the budgets of the administrative offices impacted by the reorganization,” Dr. Wildeman wrote.

Open house a key part of recruiting efforts

The UWindsor Fall Open House this Friday, November 4, is a very important part of the University’s recruiting efforts, says Dave Bussière, assistant provost – admissions and recruiting.

“It is a chance for prospective students and their parents to visit our campus and learn about our programs,” he says. “For the past seven weeks, we have had recruiters out at hundreds of high schools, and two weeks ago we spoke to thousands of students at the Ontario Universities Fair.

“All of these efforts drive people to our open house and to taking tours of campus.”

That window opens at 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 28, with team registration and a distribution of a detailed instruction package at the downtown Windsor Holiday Inn, 430 Ouellette Avenue.
